Here are my WWWs for this week.
Girl in the mist: A psychological thriller about a girl named Nina Hernandez with multiple personalities. She was a child soldier recruited at a tender age by a political outlawed sect. A naval intelligence agent finds her and sets out to rescue her out of her captivity.
The Darkest Child: A historical fiction book set in the United States during the civil rights era. It is about a young girl named Tangy Mae who lives with a mother and her 9 siblings. She is the 6th child and according to her mother, the ugliest because she is the darkest. She undergoes physical, psychological and verbal abuse and surprisingly the brightest of the children. This book was sad, encouraging and motivating at the same time.
My next read is a club read, I am getting a head start. I will be reading- The Road by Conrad McCarthy. Here is what the blurb says:
A searing, postapocalyptic novel destined to become Cormac McCarthy’s masterpiece.
A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is grey. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don’t know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food—and each other.Looking forward to this one. It sure sounds different from what I have been reading.
